Attorney General James Uthmeier Charges Child Predator with 10 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution is charging Gary Edward McFarland of Apopka with 10 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
“Law enforcement found this disgusting predator with multiple files depicting the sexual abuse of children—some of which depicted the victimization of infants,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “This is an act of evil, and we are committed to protecting children from this sort of evil in Florida. I am grateful for our law enforcement partners who put cuffs on this criminal. Our Statewide Prosecutors will hold this predator accountable.”
Based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted a search warrant at the defendant’s residence and seized multiple electronic devices.
Special Counsel Rita Peters will handle the case.
