TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution is charging a man out on probation with voter fraud. Jeffrey Luke Crane is charged with voting by unqualified elector and false affirmation for knowingly voting in the 2022 General Election as a convicted felon. Crane is on probation for aggravated fleeing with injury or damage, resisting an officer with violence, failing to stop or remain in crash scene involving injury, and driving while under the influence.

“Ensuring the integrity of our elections is important to safeguarding our republican form of government,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “This defendant knowingly participated in the 2022 election as a felon on probation, and our Statewide Prosecutors will hold him accountable for this criminal action.”

According to the law enforcement investigation, Crane signed a Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) probation form while on probation acknowledging that the defendant could not vote until completing probation. Law enforcement interviewed the defendant, and Crane admitted to voting. Crane also admitted to signing the FDC form and receiving a letter from the Supervisor of Elections advising that he was ineligible to vote.

Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Sophia Birriel-Sanchez will handle the case.
