TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that the Office of Statewide Prosecution charged Brent Wells, 35, of Oxford, on 14 felony counts related to the possession of child and animal sexual abuse materials.

“Trading in this offensive and disgusting material revictimizes the children who were forced to participate in its production and exploits helpless animals who are unable to speak for themselves,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “We have zero tolerance for this depraved behavior in Florida. Our prosecutors will ensure that this predator spends a very long time behind bars.”

The arrest was made following an investigation conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The investigation was launched on December 3, 2025, when FDLE received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about sexual abuse materials being uploaded onto Wells’ Snapchat account.

Wells was arrested on December 5, 2025. A search warrant carried out on the defendant’s cellular device uncovered further files depicting the sexual abuse of children and animals.

The defendant was charged as follows:

  • Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials – 12 counts
  • Possession of Animal Sexual Abuse Materials – 2 counts

If convicted, Wells faces up to 70 years in the Florida Department of Corrections.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are possible.

This case will be prosecuted by Special Counsel Rita Peters in the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Florida.
