Tampa Man Arrested for Distributing Child Pornography

TALLAHASSEE - Attorney General Charlie Crist announced the arrest of a Hillsborough County man this week on multiple charges of possession of child pornography and promoting the sexual performance of a child. Investigators discovered Andrey Pavlov’s distribution and promotion of pornographic videos of children during an undercover online investigation.

Pavlov, 24, placed pornographic videos on the internet, where they were discovered by a CyberCrime investigator who was able to trace them back to Pavlov. A search warrant was then executed at Pavlov’s Tampa home leading to the seizure of his computer along with numerous videos of child pornography. Pavlov was arrested by officers with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

"To those who take joy in destroying children’s lives, here is a message: you might be next," said Crist. "We will continue to track these degenerates down one-by-one and, in the end, save children from a nightmare that will last for a lifetime."

Law enforcement officers executing the search warrant verified that Pavlov’s computer contained the movies found online by the undercover investigator. Pavlov admitted that he knowingly possessed the pornography found on his computer. The computer removed from the residence will undergo further forensic analysis to locate possible additional pornographic images or movies of children.

Pavlov is currently being held at the Hillsborough County Jail and has been refused bond by a Hillsborough County judge. He is charged with one count of promoting child pornography, a second-degree felony, one count of allowing access to child pornography on his computer, a third-degree felony, and four counts of possession of child pornography, third-degree felonies. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 40 years in prison.

Tuesday’s arrest is the twelfth made by officers with the Attorney General's CyberCrime Unit since it was created in October 2005. The unit's mission is to protect children from computer-facilitated sexual exploitation. The unit does this by working cooperatively on a statewide basis with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to provide resources and expertise, while preventing the spread of these crimes through education and community awareness. The CyberCrime Unit is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) of North Florida.
