TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–Attorney General Pam Bondi encourages Floridians to participate in National Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at locations throughout the state. This event provides a safe way to dispose of unnecessary prescription medications.
“One in six teenagers has abused medicine, and the majority of teens get this medicine from their parents’ medicine cabinets,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “I will do everything in my power to stop this deadly epidemic, and I encourage others to help prevent medicine abuse in their communities.”
This effort is organized by the Drug Enforcement Agency in conjunction with state and local law enforcement. To find a nearby location, Floridians can visit http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/
Also in an effort to combat medicine abuse, Attorney General Bondi has joined a new national action campaign called The Medicine Abuse Project. The campaign is sponsored by the Partnership at Drugfree.org. The Medicine Abuse Project’s goal is to prevent half a million teens from abusing medicine. As part of The Medicine Abuse Project, Attorney General Bondi encourages individuals to sign the pledge at MedicineAbuseProject.org.
