Statement From Attorney General Charlie Crist on Governor's 2004-05 Budget That Includes Tax Cuts

TALLAHASSEE - "Governor Bush’s call for specific tax cuts as part of the 2004-05 fiscal year budget is the right recipe for Florida. Our elderly and those planning for retirement will enjoy greater self-sufficiency from the $91 million tax cut to be directed toward the Seniors and Savers Program. Those families with school children can save more of their own money if the $48 million Sales Tax Holiday returns this fall.

Tax cuts have proven to be a fuel to economies. They are also routinely part of an overall plan that leads to increased government revenues, which in turn fund the priorities of national, state and local governments. Through Governor Bush’s leadership, that has included more than $8 billion in tax cuts, we have survived the fiscal havoc that visited other states. Governor Bush should be congratulated for these proposals and those that fund our state’s priorities."
