Volusia County Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Volusia County man has been taken into custody on charges of child pornography possession. Kenneth Wayne Crist, 24, was arrested by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit and the New Smyrna Beach Police Department. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.

CyberCrime investigators discovered images of child pornography during a routine undercover operation and traced the images back to Crist’s computer. A search warrant was executed this morning at his New Smyrna Beach home where a desktop computer and numerous cds and dvds were seized to undergo additional forensic analysis to identify any additional images of child pornography. One of the images reviewed was of a child appearing to be no older than three years of age.

Crist will be charged with six counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison for each count. Additional charges could be added at a later date. He is currently being booked at the Volusia County Jail.

The agencies involved in the investigation and arrest are all members of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
