Attorney General Pam Bondi News Release
“Our primary focus was to get the consumers' deposits returned to them and protect future clients from similar false promises," said Attorney General Pam Bondi. "My office is continually investigating companies to stop deceptive practices, and we encourage consumers to contact us immediately if they feel they have been victimized."
According to an investigation started in March by the Attorney General’s Office, Rolladen required consumers to pay 40 to 80 percent of the contract price up-front for the hurricane shutters, promising delivery and installation within six to 12 weeks of the contract date. Reportedly, the company received nearly $790,000 in consumer deposits for hurricane shutters, but in many cases, it never delivered or installed the product.
The Attorney General’s Office filed the lawsuit in July in Broward Circuit Court and sought an emergency temporary injunction. One day before the hearing on the emergency motion, the court signed the order negotiated between the Florida Attorney General’s Office and Robert Hoffman, Rolladen’s principal.
Consumers who believe they may have been a victim of fraud are encouraged to contact the Attorney General’s Fraud Hotline at 1-866-9-NO-SCAM (1-866-966-7226).
