Orange County Man Gets 30 Years for Conspiracy to Traffic Heroin

TALLAHASSEE, FL –Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that an Orange County man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation that distributed heroin throughout Central Florida. Moises Benjamin Acosta, Sr., pled guilty in July of 2009 to conspiring to traffic in heroin. He was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.

Acosta, 23, was arrested in June 2009 after an investigation by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. The investigation revealed that Acosta was conspiring with others in Orange and Seminole counties to distribute large amounts of heroin throughout Central Florida. In addition to the lengthy prison sentence imposed by the Honorable Debra S. Nelson, Circuit Judge for the 18th Judicial Circuit, Luiz was ordered to pay the costs associated with his prosecution.
