House Bill 1223 is sponsored by Representative James Grant. The Senate companion, Senate Bill 716, is sponsored by Senator Wilton Simpson. “Common scams targeting Florida’s military include credit card fraud, loan fraud, and other misleading consumer practices, and this legislation cracks down on these offenders by enhancing penalties for offenses under the Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “I thank Representative Grant and the Veteran and Military Affairs Subcommittee for supporting this legislation.”
