Attorney General Commends Governor for Signing Public Safety Bill

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today issued the following statement on the signing of the Ex-Felons Licensure Bill (HB 7069) by Governor Crist:

“This law will give peace of mind to vulnerable Floridians, including nursing home residents and children in day care facilities, by ensuring that caretakers complete extensive background screenings before beginning employment,” said Attorney General McCollum. “I commend Governor Crist for signing this legislation into law.”

The Attorney General worked with the Legislature to develop more stringent licensing guidelines for ex-felons who seek to work with vulnerable Floridians, including residents of nursing homes and children in daycare facilities.
