TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and the 25 other states challenging the federal health care act today filed their first brief with the United States Supreme Court arguing that the entire federal healthcare law must be invalidated if the Court finds the individual mandate provision to be unconstitutional. The federal government must respond to the States' severability argument by January 27, 2012.
“The individual mandate is the centerpiece of the entire federal health care act,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “If the Court removes the individual mandate, the main hub of the Act, the entire health care law must be invalidated.”
