TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Attorney General Bill McCollum today released the following statement recognizing Memorial Day:
"We are fortunate and blessed to live in a free country, but the freedoms we enjoy would not be possible without the men and women in our armed forces who have put their lives on the line to guard our nation, at home and abroad.
"My father served in World War II, and my son is a West Point graduate currently serving active duty. I could not be more proud of their service, and I’m honored to have served our country as well in the U.S. Navy. On Memorial Day, as well as throughout the year, our thoughts and prayers remain with the families, friends and loved ones of the fallen who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom."
