TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–Today, Attorney General Pam Bondi released the following statement on the arrest of Dr. Jacinta Irene Gillis, 41, of Fort Myers. The arrest resulted from collaboration among the Office of Attorney General Statewide Prosecutors Office, the Lee Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Strategic Diversion Task Force and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
“This arrest is the perfect example of how we can stop pill mills by collaborating on the state and local levels,” stated Attorney General Bondi. “Due to our teamwork, today we arrested one drug dealer and protected those who may have been endangered as a result of her actions.”
Gillis has been charged with the following: one felony count of Racketerring; one felony count Conspiracy to Commit Racketeering; one felony count Conspiracy to Traffic in a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone -28 grams or more); and one felony count Money Laundering ($100,000 or more).
