PENSACOLA, FL - Attorney General Bill McCollum filed a lawsuit at 12:02 pm today against the Federal Government, alleging the Health Care Reform Law signed by the President this morning is unconstitutional. Several other State Attorneys General joined Florida's lawsuit, which is the first challenging the new law, filed today in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
"This lawsuit should put the Federal Government on notice that Florida will not permit the constitutional rights of our citizens and the sovereignty of our state to be ignored or disregarded," said Attorney General McCollum, who was joined by Attorneys General from South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Louisiana, Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Washington, Idaho, and South Dakota.
