Tallahassee, Fla.–Today, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that she will participate in National Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday, April 30, at the Sweetbay Supermarket, located at 2535 State Road 60 in Valrico. The program is designed to provide a safe way to dispose of unused and unwanted medications and promote awareness of prescription drug abuse. People interested in participating can drop off their prescription drugs between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“National Drug Take-Back Day is an excellent way to incorporate community involvement and establish public awareness of the dangers of prescription drug abuse,” said Attorney General Bondi. “All too often, the family medicine cabinet is where prescription drug abuse begins, and this event is an easy way Floridians can provide a safer home environment.”
This effort is organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration in conjunction with state and local law enforcement, and more than 5,100 sites nationwide are scheduled to participate. Floridians can visit www.myfloridalegal.com and follow the Drug Take-Back Day banner to find a location near them.
