TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –Attorney General Pam Bondi today thanked Governor Rick Scott for signing into law two anti-human trafficking bills, House Bill 989 and 7141. This legislation will enhance the care provided to victims of human trafficking, establish a Statewide Council of Human Trafficking under the Attorney General’s Office and remove the statute of limitations for the prosecution of these offenses. The National Human Trafficking Resource Center ranked Florida third in the number of calls received by the center’s human trafficking hotline. The average age a victim is first used for commercial sex is 12-14.
"I thank Governor Scott for his support of Florida’s anti-human trafficking efforts. The Statewide Council of Human Trafficking will coordinate and enhance efforts to fight trafficking and support victims," stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.
