TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –Attorney General Pam Bondi today announced the appointments of State Attorney Mark Ober for the 13^th Judicial District and Lakeland Police Chief Lisa Womack to the Personal Injury Protection Fraud Task Force.

Ober began his career in 1977 as an assistant state attorney. In that capacity, he worked his way through the ranks to become Felony Bureau Chief, Chief of the Major Crimes Division, Chief of the Career Criminal Division and Chief of the Homicide Division. Ober entered private practice in 1987 and specialized in criminal defense law until his election to the Office of State Attorney in November 2000. He is recognized in the legal community as a top criminal attorney, having personally chaired more than 250 criminal jury trials, including more than 40 first degree murder convictions.

Chief Lisa Womack was sworn in as Chief of Police for the Lakeland Police Department in March 2011. Chief Womack has worked as Chief of Police in Sugarland, Texas, and Elgin, Illinois. She has also worked as Assistant Chief in Arlington, Texas. Chief Womack is a nationally recognized law enforcement leader, and she is credentialed as a Commissioner on the Commission of Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. She is a former Executive Committee Member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and IACP Foundation.

The task force is a direct-support organization whose sole purpose is to support the prosecution, investigation, and prevention of motor vehicle insurance fraud. Their terms will run concurrently with the Attorney General’s term of office.
