TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a St. Petersburg man is in custody on charges of possessing and promoting child pornography. Samuel Keller was taken into custody by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit, the Boynton Beach Police Department, the Boca Raton Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Keller, 20, began chatting with an undercover Boynton Beach police officer and eventually sent the undercover officer images of child pornography. When Keller was identified as a resident of St. Petersburg, the police department contacted the Attorney General’s Office for assistance.
A search warrant was executed this afternoon at Keller’s home and a computer was seized along with several hard drives, CDs and DVDs. The equipment will undergo forensic analysis to locate any additional images of child pornography. Keller admitted possessing the image sent to the undercover officer. Some of the 800 images found on his computer were of children appearing to be no older than three years old.
Keller will be booked into the Pinellas County Jail and will be charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony which will be enhanced to a second-degree felony under the CyberCrimes Against Children Act of 2007, and one count of promotion of child pornography, a second-degree felony.
