TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Pam Bondi applauds the House of Representatives Justice Appropriations Subcommittee for today’s passage of House Bill 1039, which prohibits the sale and use of substances containing Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), commonly known as “bath salts.” This legislation is sponsored by Representative Jimmy Patronis.
“Thanks to Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen’s efforts to tackle a rising public safety issue, I issued an emergency rule making ‘bath salts’ illegal for 90 days,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “I am grateful that Representative Patronis brought forth this bill and that the Legislature has recognized the necessity of protecting the public by permanently banning this dangerous drug.”
