TALLAHASSEE, FL—Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Pinellas County man was sentenced to nine years in prison, followed by 10 years of sex offender probation. James Neil Saxon, Jr., 55, pled guilty to 20 counts of possession of child pornography and is required to register as a sex offender.
Saxon was arrested in April 2009 at his place of employment, Aerosonic Corporation. His possession of child pornography was discovered when CyberCrime investigators located images of child pornography during a routine undercover investigation and traced the images back to a computer Saxon was using in his office. Investigators confiscated computers from his home and office, where they discovered thousands of images of child pornography. At the time of his arrest, Saxon was the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit’s top target in the Clearwater area.
Saxon was prosecuted by attorneys with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit. Saxon was sentenced by Judge Thane Covert in Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit. Aerosonic Corporation cooperated fully with the investigation.
