Pinellas County Man Arrested For Possession, Promotion Of Child Pornography
~ Arrest is second of the day for Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit ~
TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced a Pinellas County man is in custody on charges of possession and promotion of child pornography. John Kenneth Jackson was arrested today at his St. Petersburg home by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit.
An investigator with the Attorney General’s Tampa CyberCrime Task Force discovered images of child pornography during a routine investigation and the CyberCrime Unit traced the images back to Jackson’s computer. A search warrant was executed on his home where authorities seized three computers and numerous CDs, DVDs, and discs, all of which will undergo forensic analysis to locate any additional images of child pornography. Some of the images located were of child victims identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and other images were of children appearing to be no more than three years of age.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Bradenton Police Department, Kenneth City Police Department and St. Petersburg Police Department assisted with the arrest. Each of the participating law enforcement agencies are members of the Attorney General’s Tampa CyberCrime Task Force.
Jackson will be charged with 30 counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony which will be enhanced to a second-degree felony under the CyberCrimes Against Children Act, and one charge of promoting the sexual performance of a child, a second-degree felony. He will be booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
