TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Attorney General Pam Bondi today sponsored a resolution at the meeting of the Governor and Cabinet recognizing the 20th anniversary of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Since July 1, 1994, the MFCU has investigated and healthcare providers who defraud the Medicaid program. Additionally, the MFCU in investigates abuse, neglect, and exploitation of the elderly, ill and disabled Florida residents in long-term care facilities. The MFCU’s steadfast commitment to the agency’s fundamental values has resulted in the recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars, which have been returned to the State of Florida.
“My Medicaid Fraud Control Unit has been a national leader among state Medicaid Fraud Control Units, and it will continue to aggressively investigate cases of Medicaid fraud and protect taxpayer dollars,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.
