TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Pam Bondi released the following statement applauding the Florida Legislature for passing a bill that bans Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), or “bath salts.” Today, the Florida Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 1886, sponsored by Senator Wise, which bans the drug. The Florida House of Representatives passed the bill last week.
“I applaud the leadership of Rep. Patronis, Sen. Wise and the Florida Legislature for protecting Floridians by outlawing a deadly drug that has already devastated many lives,” stated Attorney General Bondi. “This effort has truly been a partnership, beginning with Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen raising the issue. This legislation is a great example of how local and state leaders can come together to address a public safety issue.”
