Gainesville Man Who Solicited "Mother" for Sex With Her Children Gets Max Sentence

TALLAHASSEE, FL - Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that an Alachua County man has received the maximum sentence recommended after he was convicted of soliciting a "mother" for sex with her two young children. Seth Jerchower was sentenced to just over 27 years in prison and will serve lifetime supervision as a registered sex offender upon his release. He was arrested in December 2007 by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit and was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.

During a CyberCrime operation, Jerchower, 47, approached an undercover CyberCrime investigator in an internet chatroom and began chatting with the investigator. After speaking for only a few minutes with the investigator, Jerchower began soliciting sex with the "mother's" children and continued to explicitly discuss his intentions with the investigator throughout the day. The "mother’s" children were allegedly nine and 11 years old.

Jerchower, of Gainesville, was taken into custody by law enforcement officers with the CyberCrime Unit. The arrest was assisted by the Gainesville Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Alachua County Sheriff's office. The sentence was handed down yesterday in the United States District Court in Gainesville.
