TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–The Council on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys released its 2011 Annual Report. The report details current conditions and provides recommendations in the areas of: education, health and families, criminal justice and crime prevention, and employment.
The Council on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys is administratively housed within the Attorney General’s Office. Created by the Legislature during the 2006 Legislative Session, the Council is charged with studying the conditions affecting black men and boys, including: homicide rates, arrest and incarceration rates, poverty, violence, drug abuse, death rates, disparate annual income levels, health issues and school performance.
