Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Statement on the Passage of the False Claims Act in the House Justice Appropriations Subcommittee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –Attorney General Pam Bondi released the following statement on the passage of the False Claims Act, House Bill 935, in the House Justice Appropriations Subcommittee. This bill strengthens the Office of the Attorney General’s ability to protect taxpayers by enhancing its investigative and prosecutorial authority, including giving the office the power to issue subpoenas in non-Medicaid cases. House Bill 935 is sponsored by Representative Dana Young, and the Senate companion, Senate Bill 1494, is sponsored by Senator John Thrasher.

“This important legislation is critical in preventing fraud against the government, providing additional protection for taxpayers’ money and increasing accountability for companies doing business with the state,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi. “I applaud Representative Young and the House Justice Appropriations Subcommittee for supporting this important legislation.”
