TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Attorney General Bill McCollum today issued the following statement on the reported departure of BP CEO Tony Hayward from the company's top post:
"The Deepwater Horizon oil disaster has been wreaking havoc on our state, our businesses and our residents for nearly 100 days, and throughout this catastrophe, Tony Hayward has appeared disingenuous, disinterested, and often dismissive of what our state, our businesses and our residents are suffering.
"There are many serious questions Tony Hayward and BP have left unanswered, and it is time for a new CEO to address the serious issues that continue to face Floridians.
"As Florida and its citizens work hard to get their lives back, my office will continue working to ensure that BP and the federal government are doing everything possible to make those affected whole again."
