Hernando County Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography, Solicitation

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced a Hernando County man is in custody and will be charged with possession of child pornography and soliciting a parent for sex with a child. Robert Wolpert, 31, was arrested by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit after investigators discovered Wolpert had numerous images of child pornography in his possession. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office was also part of the investigation and assisted with the arrest.

Based on a Cybertip related to information posted on craigslist, CyberCrime investigators conducted a voluntary interview with Wolpert and arrested Wolpert based on information obtained during that interview. An initial review of Wolpert’s computers revealed multiple images of child pornography, some of children as young as eight years old. Two computers were seized and will undergo forensic analysis to identify any additional images of child pornography.

Wolpert will be booked into the Hernando County Jail and will be charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography, a second-degree felony under the Cyber-Crimes Against Children Act of 2007, and 16 counts of soliciting a parent for the purposes of having sex with a child, also a second-degree felony. The agencies involved in today’s arrest are members of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
