TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced a Volusia County man has been taken into custody and will be charged with possession of child pornography. Gary Robert Martinelli, 60, was arrested by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit and the New Smyrna Beach Police Department after investigators discovered Martinelli had multiple images of child pornography in his possession. The Edgewater Police Department and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.
CyberCrime investigators located images of child pornography during a routine investigation and traced the images back to Martinelli’s computer. A search warrant was executed at his Edgewater home where multiple computers and other external media storage were seized. The items removed from the home will undergo forensic analysis to identify any additional images of child pornography. An initial review of his computers revealed multiple images of child pornography, some of children as young as five years old.
Martinelli will be booked into the Volusia County Jail and will be charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony which will be enhanced to a second-degree felony under the CyberCrimes Against Children Act.
