TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today issued the following statement in recognition of the first day of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15-October 15, 2009:
“Hispanic Americans have played a pivotal role in the cultural, social, and economic framework of our nation and state. As we celebrate Florida’s rich Hispanic history and culture, I encourage every Floridian to reflect on the contributions this community has made.”
In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Attorney General will recognize the accomplishments of an extraordinary Hispanic Floridian every day for 30 days on the Attorney General’s website. Additionally, the Attorney General’s Capitol Office will feature artwork from notable Hispanic artist Federico Carosio III.
