TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Santa Rosa County man has been taken into custody on charges of child pornography possession. Jonathan Daniel Bervig was arrested today by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, investigators with the State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit, and the Pensacola and Milton Police Departments.
CyberCrime investigators discovered Bervig’s collection of child pornography during a routine investigation online. The investigators traced the images back to Bervig, 33, and served a search warrant on his Milton home this morning, where they discovered at least four videos of child pornography depicting children appearing to be younger than 10 years old, one of which included bestiality with a child. Bervig admitted to knowingly possession the videos found during the undercover investigation. His computer and other equipment was seized and will undergo additional forensic analysis to locate any additional images.
Bervig was booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail. He faces four charges of possession of child pornography and additional charges could be added at a later date. No bond has been set at this time. The arrest was coordinated by the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force as part of "Operation Fairplay."
