TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced the arrest of an Orlando man on charges of child pornography possession. Simon Ferguson was taken into custody today by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
CyberCrime investigators discovered images of child pornography during a routine investigation and traced the images back to Ferguson’s computer. A search warrant was executed on his home and authorities seized a computer, 27 CDs and four flash drives. The equipment seized will undergo forensic analysis to locate any additional images of child pornography. Ferguson, 24, admitted to possessing the images found during the investigation; at least one of the images appeared to be of a child no more than four years of age.
Ferguson will be charged with ten counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony which will be enhanced to a second-degree felony under the CyberCrimes Against Children Act of 2007. Ferguson will be booked into the Orange County Jail and will be prosecuted by attorneys with the CyberCrime Unit. The CyberCrime Unit and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are both members of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
