TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–Attorney General Pam Bondi introduced a resolution today at the meeting of the Florida Governor and Cabinet recognizing October as National Bullying Prevention Month. She commended law enforcement officers for their efforts to prevent and eliminate bullying.
“Every seven minutes somewhere in our country a child is bullied,” Attorney General Bondi said. “As Floridians, we must stand together against this cowardice act and protect our children from those who threaten them with physical, mental and verbal abuse.”
According to the National Education Association, six out of 10 American teenagers witness bullying in their schools every day, but bullying extends far beyond schools and playgrounds. Cyber bullying is making it harder for victims to escape the teasing and humiliation bullies inflict.
Attorney General Bondi encourages all school and community organizations in Florida to engage in awareness and prevention activities.
