Attorney General Bondi Recognizing World Day Against Trafficking in Persons by Highlighting 2018 Summit

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.––In recognition of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Attorney General Pam Bondi is highlighting the 2018 Human Trafficking Summit to raise awareness about this horrific crime. Every year, thousands of men, women and children are trafficked across the world. Nearly one third of all human trafficking victims are children, and 71 percent of all victims are women and girls. Human trafficking is an assault on human dignity and a threat to human rights.

“The devastating realities of human trafficking throughout the world deserve our full attention and united condemnation. Today, I proudly stand with leaders worldwide in recognizing World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, and I encourage Floridians to join me at the 2018 Florida Human Trafficking Summit to help continue the work toward eliminating all forms of trafficking,” said Attorney General Bondi.

Attorney General Bondi, along with the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, the Florida Department of Children and Families and the University of Central Florida, will host the 2018 Florida Human Trafficking Summit on Oct. 1. Award nominations are due by Sept. 3 and registration for this event is now open and will close on or before Sept. 24.

Florida’s Human Trafficking Summit brings together local, state and national leaders working to eradicate all forms of trafficking. Throughout the day, attendees will participate in targeted breakout sessions, workshops and training opportunities covering:

Legal/law enforcement;
Service delivery;
Policy and research; and

Award Nominations:
For the sixth year, the Florida Human Trafficking Summit will honor outstanding citizens for their efforts to end human trafficking in Florida in four categories; Survivor Advocate of the Year, Community Advocate of the Year, Prosecutor of the Year, and Law Enforcement Official of the Year. Attendees can register now here. Please register early as space is limited. Should space be available, on-site registration is on Sept. 30 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Oct. 1, beginning at 7:00 a.m. in the Coral Ballroom at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld.
