TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Pam Bondi issued the following statement in response to Florida’s overwhelming participation in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Drug Take-Back Day last Saturday. In Florida, 115 law enforcement agencies participated in the event by providing 164 collection sites.
“Thanks to our great law enforcement community and residents, 8.5 tons of unnecessary prescription drugs are now off of our streets and out of the hands of children. These drug take-back days are helping in our fight to end prescription drug abuse in Florida,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Prescription Drug Take-Back Day events help tackle a vital public safety and public health issue–safely disposing of expired or unwanted prescription drugs from the home medicine cabinet that can otherwise be diverted, misused and abused.
