TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced the leader of a retail theft ring operating in Central Florida was sentenced to seven years in prison. Steven Coburn must also serve eight years of probation upon release and pay $27,000 in restitution. Coburn, his wife Kerry Ann, and 16 other defendants were prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.
A joint task force investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office uncovered the ring’s activities in 2007. The group was stealing and reselling retail products, usually over-the-counter medication and beauty products, from locations throughout Central Florida. Coburn, of Lake Mary was the leader of the operation and purchased stolen merchandise from mid-level shoplifters in Florida and other states. The products were then sold for profit by accomplices online or at flea market locations.
The following co-defendants were charged with racketeering and conspiracy to commit Racketeering, pleaded guilty and were sentenced accordingly:
Kerry A. Coburn, 29, Lake Mary – entered a pre-trial intervention program after paying over $45,000 in restitution, fines, and costs;
Theresa Reynolds Parrish, 44, Tampa – sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years probation;
Ronald Paul Parrish, 41, Tampa – serving a probationary sentence
Vincent Louis May, 46, Auburndale – sentenced to 19 months in prison;
Keith Andrew Thompson, 28, Dover – sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation;
Timothy D. Griffin, 35, Lakeland – sentenced to six years in prison
Rebecca L. Bradshaw, 30, Lakeland – sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation;
Kathleen K. Bradshaw, 50, currently incarcerated – sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation;
Rita Marie Maddox, 34, currently incarcerated – sentenced to three years in prison and six years probation;
Elisha William Cordle, 19, Dover – sentenced to four years in prison and three years probation;
Teresa T. Bradshaw, 43, currently incarcerated – sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation;
Gary Lynn Bradshaw, 52, Lakeland – sentenced to 6.5 years in prison;
Angelina Junette Lane, 17, Dover – sentenced to two years in prison and five years probation;
Garry Lee Bradshaw, 25, Dover – sentenced to seven years in prison and five years probation;
Jason William Gill, 28, currently incarcerated – sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation;
Bruce Leslie Bradshaw, 50, Plant City – sentenced to 5.5 years in prison and five years probation; and
Sheila Ann Knowell, 48, currently incarcerated – sentenced to five years prison and five years probation.
