I am so grateful to our law enforcement officers, who keep our communities safe. This week was a poignant reminder of just how much our law enforcement officers sacrifice for our safety and how dedicated they are to their responsibilities.
On Tuesday, I attended the memorial service of St. Petersburg Police Officer David Crawford, who was killed in the line of duty last week. I was deeply moved by the outpouring of love and adoration shown in remembrance of Officer Crawford. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and colleagues.
Particularly in light of this tragic event, I was honored this week to join Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll for an awards ceremony to celebrate law enforcement officers. On Thursday, I participated in the State Law Enforcement Chiefs' Association awards ceremony. The association represents the interests of law enforcement supervisors employed by the State of Florida. The distinguished award recipients were lauded for the commendable service they provide for the citizens of the Sunshine State, including risking their own safety for others.
We are truly fortunate to have such exceptional law enforcement officers dedicated to Florida's communities.
