This week, I attended a National Association of Attorneys General Conference in Chicago. It was an excellent learning experience and a great opportunity to get to know other attorneys general from across the country. The conference theme was "Maximizing State and Local Partnerships to Help Constituents," and a wide array of topics and issues that face our nation were covered, including prescription drug abuse. While at the conference, I also met with Gil Kerlikowske, Director of National Drug Control Policy to discuss Florida's fight against pill mills and prescription drug abuse.
During this week's conference, the 2011-2012 officers were announced and I was named the chairman of the southern region of the National Association of Attorneys General. It is an honor to be named chairman, and I look forward to working closely with the other attorneys general of the southern region on issues pertinent to our area.
