Attorney General Bondi's Weekly Briefing

Tomorrow is Veterans Day, and we must never forget the courageous men and women of our Armed Forces who have risked their lives to ensure our country’s safety and freedom. Their bravery is the reason we can enjoy our liberties as Americans today and every day. Let us thank our veterans, active duty military and the family members who support them.

This month, we are also celebrating Military Family Appreciation Month, which is an opportunity to recognize the immense sacrifices made by the loved ones who support our soldiers and their families while they are fighting to protect us. Their dedication and commitment is greatly appreciated.

The last thing military members, veterans and their families should be worried about is being scammed, but unfortunately they are often targeted. These Americans sacrifice so much for us, and victimizing them with deceptive schemes is disgraceful. To help military veterans and their families avoid these scams, I am providing my 2016 Military Consumer Protection Guide. This guide is full of information and tips about common scams including predatory lending practices, identity theft, debt collection, foreclosure fraud and more.

It’s an honor to have nearly 100,000 active and reserve members of the Armed Forces and more than 1.5 million veterans living here in Florida. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure these brave Americans and their families are protected from scams and deceptive business practices at home.

We keep all who have served and their loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.

Attorney General Bondi’s Statement on the Passing of Former U.S. Attorney General Reno

Attorney General Pam Bondi released the following statement about the passing of former United States Attorney General Janet Reno:

“I knew former United States Attorney General Janet Reno and appreciate her willingness to serve. She was a great prosecutor and served as the State Attorney for Miami-Dade County for many years. General Reno is an inductee in the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame, which honors women who have made significant contributions to improving the lives of Floridians. My prayers go out to all of her loved ones. She will be missed.”
