Attorney General McCollum announced that a Pinellas County man was sentenced to nine years in prison, followed by 10 years of sex offender probation. James Neil Saxon, Jr., 55, pleaded guilty to 20 counts of possession of child pornography and is required to register as a sex offender.

Attorney General McCollum and The Florida Bar Foundation announced a new foreclosure defense assistance program, funded by money obtained by the Attorney General through a settlement with Countrywide Financial. A total of $4 million will be available over two years to fund additional lawyer and paralegal positions devoted to providing free assistance to homeowners facing foreclosures who cannot afford legal defense. Florida currently has the fourth highest rate of foreclosures in the nation.

A Broward County woman is in custody on charges of abusing an elderly nursing home resident under her care. Eronie Deverlus was arrested by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
A St. Lucie County woman was arrested on charges that she was operating an assisted living facility without a license. Novlette Whyte Miller was arrested by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
A Duval County woman has been taken into custody for neglecting a disabled victim under her care. Isata Sannoh, a Medicaid provider, was arrested yesterday by the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Jacksonville County Sheriff's Office.
A Daytona Beach man was sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation that was responsible for distributing cocaine throughout eastern Volusia County. Robert Lee Hill pleaded guilty to numerous cocaine related charges in April of this year and was prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution.
A Lee County man convicted by a jury in April for heroin trafficking and conspiracy has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Ernest Jerome Nash was prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution.
A Duval County woman has been arrested on charges she defrauded the Florida Medicaid program out of more than $1,500. Kirsty Murray was arrested by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
An Orange County woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for her role in a heroin trafficking operation which distributed heroin throughout Central Florida in 2000. Marta Pagan pled guilty to heroin-related offenses in September 2001 and was prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution.

Attorney General Bill McCollum and Florida’s Interagency Mortgage Fraud Task Force invite homeowners to attend a Tampa town hall meeting titled: “The Housing Crisis: Who to Trust and Where to Turn." The meeting will be free of cost to attend. Participants can get information from and speak directly with government representatives, local lawyers, and other community resources about all of these concerns and more. After the program, volunteer lawyers, state and local government representatives, and community leaders will be available to provide information and answer individual questions.
Space is limited and participants must call toll-free 877-385-1621 to reserve their seats.
Doors will open at 8:30 am and parking is free. The event is open to members of the media.
