Attorney General Bill McCollum issued an advisory encouraging parents to be mindful of their children’s online activities over the holiday break. With schools out for the holidays, children have more leisure time to spend on the internet and could be more vulnerable to internet child predators. The Attorney General cautioned parents to install parental controls, check their computer’s search history and talk to their children about internet safety.
An Orange County man has been taken into custody on charges of child pornography possession. Robert Andrew Candella was arrested this morning by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General's CyberCrime Unit with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Winter Garden Police Department.
An Okaloosa County man has been taken into custody on charges of child pornography possession. Connie Reece Cotton was arrested this morning by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit with assistance from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

A Broward County man was convicted for trafficking Oxycodone and conspiring to traffic Oxycodone. Timmy Roel Bewry faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced at a later date. He was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.
An Alachua County man has been arrested on charges of practicing medicine without a license, Medicaid fraud, grand theft and organized scheme to defraud federal and state health care programs. Jorge Manuel Prieto, 42, was arrested today by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit with assistance from the High Springs Police Department.
A Flagler County jury has convicted a key member of a Central-Northeast Florida drug trafficking ring. Samuel Eleaser Johnson was found guilty of trafficking cocaine, conspiring to traffic cocaine, and money laundering. Johnson, who was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution, faces four 15-year minimum mandatory prison terms when he is sentenced at a later date.

A Tallahassee judge ruled that a Florida company and its president violated the state's Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act by sending out mass mailings which appeared to be invoices. According to a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Bill McCollum's office, hundreds of companies all over the world made payments to Federated Institute for Patent and Trademark Registry, mistakenly believing they were being billed for legitimate services.
Attorney General McCollum announced that his office has reached an agreement with the Avis and Budget car rental companies over allegations that customers were not clearly informed about the terms of usage for a toll plaza pass. Under the agreement, Floridians who rented cars from Avis or Budget between March 1, 2008 and September 30, 2008 will be entitled to refunds for fees charged for the “Plate Pass” service on days they did not use the service.
